About Us
The idea for Galveston Express was born when a group of friends from Chicago came to Houston/Galveston for a cruise in December 2014. They were a group of four and found it to be cheaper to simply rent a car and leave it parked at the Galveston Cruise Ship Terminal for the entire week during their cruise. I had been looking for business ideas, so naturally I began to research transfer costs from the Houston airports to Galveston. I quickly found that the per person cost was indeed astronomical and the options are limited for travelers who fly through the Houston airports. Local Galvestonians are affected as well. They too need a reliable and affordable way to get to Houston so they can do their own traveling.
Many out-of-state cruise-line passengers prefer to come in a day or more early to avoid missing the boat. This rules out using the cruise-line transfers unless the group stays in a hotel near the airport which leaves them stranded in an area with little to see and do in the way of entertainment and quality dining experiences.
After much research, it became clear that travelers are clamoring for an inexpensive option to get them to the island where the restaurants and entertainment are abundant, and where the ship is just a few blocks away and the stress and worry over missing it become a thing of the past.
